Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2007

Combining a snowshoe and a high-traction boot, the innovative FLIGHTsystem can be used with existing footwear

KAHTOOLA FLIGHTSYSTEM

Combining a snowshoe and a high-traction boot, the innovative FLIGHTsystem can be used with existing footwear, allowing users to run, hike, walk and travel in snow, ice or slippery conditions and adapt to any terrain.

"Kahtoola is creating these events to highlight the FLIGHTsystem, which allows racers to switch between traction and flotation to adapt efficiently to different snow conditions," Giovale said. "The response has been very positive."

Kahtoola Spreads Word on Its System with Snowshoe Races

Kahtoola is building consumer awareness about its FLIGHTsystem through snowshoe races and demos. Last month, some 60 racers participated in two FLIGHTboot Challenge races in Leadville, Colorado.

The company will hold several more races this year, including two next month in Idaho. Other events in Aspen, Colorado and Flagstaff, Arizona are in the works. "Additionally, we are participating in Winter Trails nationwide with demos in Colorado and Utah," said Danny Giovale, owner and founder of Kahtoola.

"Kahtoola is creating these events to highlight the FLIGHTsystem, which allows racers to switch between traction and flotation to adapt efficiently to different snow conditions," Giovale said. "The response has been very positive."

Yesterday at Backcountry Base Camp, Kahtoola held an Uphill Challenge-a sprint in FLIGHTboots up the ski run for a FLIGHTsystem.

Here at the show, the company is raffling a pair of FLIGHTboots today, tomorrow and Monday at 5 p.m. To enter, retailers must drop off their business card at Booth #26038. Winners must be present to claim their prize.

Kahtoola's FLIGHTsystem includes the insulated FLIGHTboot, which slides over footwear and is secured by a single ratcheted strap. It is equipped with traction in the forefoot, midfoot and heel. For deep snow, the FLIGHTboot clicks into ports on the FLIGHTdeck for optimal flotation.
