Kahtoola’s MICROspikes provide traction aplenty for runs in the worst weather...
March 2008 — While you can buy trail shoes with built-in spikes these days, most runners don’t need that kind of traction often enough to warrant the extra pair. Kahtoola’s MICROspikes provide traction aplenty for runs in the worst weather this winter, using your regular running shoes — trail or road. Featuring stainless steel spikes, the device fits over your shoe with a stretchy elastomer upper that holds a chain and spike system. Both the chain and almost half-inch spikes provide burly, surefire, under-foot grip for the iciest of winter surfaces. You would not, however, want to use these for any distance on paved surfaces without significant snow or ice to cushion the metal-on-concrete impact.
